Getting Maximum ROI From Your Dynamics GP System

Are you getting the maximum return from your Dynamics GP system? As a manufacturer you’ve embraced Lean Manufacturing practices, tightened your supply chain and may have implemented Kaizen principles or Six Sigma methodology to stay competitive. You may have even used Kaizen processes to remove waste in your daily use of Dynamics GP.

The typical manufacturer has been on Dynamics GP for at least 3 to 5 year and the users can be described as:

  • Having gone through at least one or two major upgrades
  • Effectively utilize the software to complete their jobs and are proficient in GP as it applies to their jobs
  • Have had minimal training since the initial implementation
  • The business and their job duties have changed as the company continues to evolve
  • Are working outside of GP with Excel or paper to do part of their job
  • Are frustrated and feel the software can’t give them the tools they need

If this describes your situation, you are probably not getting the maximum ROI from your software. Your team may be well versed in using GP but they don’t know what they don’t know. During the initial implementation and subsequent upgrades there was functionality and processes in the system that were not used in your deployment. As your business and business needs have changed, the system wasn’t enhanced to utilize this latent functionality because your team wasn’t aware of it.

To find out what is available but not utilized in your system, you need to have an Existing Systems Review conducted by a knowledgeable Dynamics GP Partner to ensure that you are maximizing the potential of your software solution. The review should examine your use of your system, as well as the business processes it needs to support. It should illuminate inefficiencies that impact your profitability and provide recommendations for improvements to your business processes and use of the Dynamics GP software.

With all the effort that has gone into maximizing the efficiencies in your supply chain and on the shop floor, doesn’t it make sense to apply these same principles to your Dynamics GP ERP system? Have you had a system review? Tell us about your experience.
